It’s a trade publication with hairstylists as the main audience, but The Colorist magazine features content that interests consumers, too—including reports on hair-color trends, styling ideas, and even beauty industry news.

In the latest issue, our very own Deb Gavin, who leads the creative direction for Keratin Complex’s professional hair color line, has some good tips for stylists on how to communicate color ideas to clients. She recommends de-mystifying the process by using language that is less jargonistic and more descriptive—“shadow pieces” instead of “lowlights,” for instance. This is great advice for professionals everywhere, and would surely be appreciated by those sitting in their chairs!
